By 1912 this farmhouse had become the Gordon family's beach house and typified the colony of Beaumont families who spent the summer season on the Gulf. Family history indicates the house was named after the Vanderbilt Newport Mansion, "The Breakers". While this house may be an architectural time capsule, it's not a museum. Instead, outfitted with modern conveniences that have been discretely added, the home is vibrant and alive. Being the fifth-generation owner, Barbara Gordon McNeill has gone to great lengths to ensure this. "My intent was and is to maintain the feeling of the old home place while integrating updated features, "she explains. "Also, many of the furnishings and decorative arts are original to the place."
